The top-ranked and undefeated Wisconsin Badger women’s hockey team lost for the first time this season, seeing their 18-game win streak come to an end.
North Dakota blanked the high-powered Badger offense in a 3-0 upset on Friday night in Grand Forks.
Wisconsin outshot the Fighting Hawks 26-23, but couldn’t find the net. The Badgers managed only three shots on goal in the final period.
The teams square off again this afternoon to wrap up the first half of the season.
Badger men fall at MSU
The Wisconsin men’s hockey team coughed up a pair of two-goal leads and fell to the Michigan State Spartans 4-3 in East Lansing.
Goals by will Johnson and Jake Linhart gave the Badgers a 2-0 lead. Matthew Freytag scored to make it 3-1 Wisconsin in the second period. Freytag has four goals in his last five games.
Michigan State chipped away and then scored the game winner at 16:47 on a breakaway.
Wisconsin (3-7-5, 0-2-1-0 Big Ten) will take another shot at its first Big Ten win with an afternoon (1:30 CT) faceoff on Saturday.
