Just one day after receiving the top ranking in the country, the Wisconsin Badgers lost to Michigan State 64-55, on Tuesday night. The Spartans held the Badgers to a season low 35.8% shooting and on the offensive end, guard Drew Neitzel poured in 28 points, hitting 6 of 11 from three-point range.
The Badgers cold shooting down the stretch absolutely buried them. In the final seven minutes, the Badgers missed 10 straight shots and didn't score a basket until 15 seconds remained.
Sophomore forward Marcus Landry scored a season high 18 points for the Badgers (26-3, 12-2 Big Ten). Senior forward Alando Tucker had 16 points, but just two in the second half. Senior guard Kammron Taylor entered play averaging 13.8 points in Big Ten play, but scored a season low 2 points on 0 of 6 shooting.
The Badgers fell a half-game behind Ohio State in the Big Ten race and will face the Buckeyes on Sunday in Columbus.
