The number-1 ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team fell to second-ranked Minnesota 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, as the Gophers swept the two-game weekend series in Madison.

With Minnesota trailing 1-0 late in the third period, Rachael Bona fired a wrister past Ann-Renee Desbiens to tie the game 1-1 and force overtime at LaBahn Arena.

In OT, the Gophers (5-0-1, 3-0-1-0) caught the Badgers (6-2-0, 4-2-0-0) in a line change and took advantage of a turnover when Rachel Ramsey scored with just a minute left in overtime.

The teams combined for 76 shots, as Wisconsin outshot Minnesota 41-36.

The Badgers return to the ice next Friday for a two-game road series at Bemidji State.
