As the seasons begin to change, state tourism officials are hoping to make it easier for fans of fall color to find out where to go.

The Travel Wisconsin Fall Color Report is up and running again this year. Lisa Marshall with the state Tourism Department says it provides an easy way to find out the conditions of trees in locations across the state.

The report is updated throughout the week using a color meter to show current leaf conditions. There’s also a weekly e-mail sent out to subscribers.

Marshall says the changing colors do a good job of bringing in fall travelers, who spent $2.8 in the state last year. Fall festivals across the state also help to attract those leaf watchers to the region.

So far, Marshall says it’s a little early in the season so conditions are still quite green. However, it’s expected to ramp up in the coming weeks with colors peaking towards the end of this month and early October.
