A New Ricmond man is dead, after a train collided with his ATV.

Investigators say 31-year-old Vincent V. Timm was pronounced dead at the scene of the early morning crash in Cylon. Timm was struck by a Canadian National train at about 5:45 Wednesday morning.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department says Timm was attempting to cross the tracks on his ATV, when the vehicle got caught on the tracks.

Officials say heavy fog restricted visibility. The conductor reportedly did see the ATV and applied the train's breaks, but was unable to stop in time.

The incident remains under investigation.
