A man and woman are dead and one man remains in critical condition after a triple shooting in Central Wisconsin Wednesday morning. Police say an estranged husband in the Wausau suburb of Weston shot his wife and her boyfriend. Everest Metro police Chief Dan Vergin confirms the shooting happened after a domestic dispute. “We did, through investigation, discover that it was a domestic dispute gone awry.”
After shooting his wife and boyfriend, the husband — 39-year-old Chor Xiong — then shot himself. The woman – 29-year-old Padalina Thao – died at the scene. Medics took the shooter and the boyfriend ? 41-year-old Pao Chang ? to St. Clare?s hospital in Weston. The two were airlifted to St. Joseph's in Marshfield, where the husband died. Chief Vergin called the shooting a tragic event, but no threat to the public. “This was a crime of passion.”
The couple had seven children, five of whom witnessed the shooting. None were injured. Vergin says detectives are processing the crime scene. Authorities will perform an autopsy on the two bodies (Thursday) in Madison.
