toys112007.jpg A new report highlights some of the dangerous toys sitting on store shelves. The annual Trouble in Toyland report lists a number of toys on the market right now that can be dangerous for children.

WISPIRG's Cathy Collentine says concerns about noise levels, choking hazards, and lead paint top the list. She says most of them are still on store shelves as well.

Other problems pointed out in the report are toxic chemicals in makeup marketed for young children, toys with powerful magnets that can easily be swallowed and cause dangerous bowel problems, and toys with parts that may be able to strangle a child.

Collentine says parents need to seriously evaluate any toy before making a purchase. They should also be on the look out for possible recalls or consumer advisories.
