Two men died after falling through the ice on Glen Loch near Chippewa Falls Sunday afternoon. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was called a little after 2:30 to a report of two men who had fallen through the ice. One of the men was fully submerged and trapped under the ice. The other was partially in the water.

Emergency workers performed CPR and both men were brought to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The victims were a 33-year-old Bloomer man and a 76-year-old Chippewa Falls man. Their names have not been released. The investigation continues. The sheriff’s department reminds everyone to be cautious on area waters due to the unseasonably warm weather.

Unseasonably mild temperatures have resulted in lots of open water around the state, and the Wisconsin Department of  Natural Resources advises that people not walk on the ice until it’s at least two-to-four inches thick.
