Two 17 year old students at Green Bay East High School were taken into custody Thursday, after explosives, guns and other potentially dangerous materials were found in their homes.
Police responded after receiving a tip that the students may be up to something. Police Chief Craig Van Scandle says many weapons were found when their homes were searched. Police say the boys are obsessed with pain, death and have suicidal thoughts. They are unsure if they were planning to use the weapons on themselves or others.
Green Bay School District Superintendent Dan Nerad says fast acting teachers and officers prevented a possible tragedy. Friends of the students say the boys were depressed and told them they wanted to die by suicide by cop, and may explode bombs at the school. Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski says he's considering adult charges against the boys. Another press conference is scheduled Friday morning.
