The FAA is investigating the crash of a helicopter into a home on the far west side of Kenosha, from which a family of five escaped unharmed.

The small chopper left Kenosha Regional Airport, piloted by 54-year old Alan Sapko, who owned a clothing company in neighboring Racine County. Witnesses reported hearing problems with the engine before the helicopter struck the roof on the back of the 2-story house, traveled downward, in between the bedrooms where Noel & Carla Wilson and their three children were sleeping, past a staircase and out the front door, onto the street, where it burst into flames.

Sapko and his fiancé, Joanne Anzalone, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kenosha Fire Battalion Chief Matt Haerter (Hairt-er) says, of the family, "if there's ever a definition of a miracle, this would be it."
