The state unemployment rate dropped half-a-percentage point last month.

Wisconsin’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.7-percent in May, which is its lowest level since early 2009 and down from 8.2-percent in April.

The state Department of Workforce Development says Wisconsin added over 40-thousand jobs last month, demonstrating a continued economic recovery. Of those, about 6,500 jobs were in construction and 3,300 were in manufacturing.

Nationally, unemployment dropped to 9.3-percent in May.
