Wisconsin’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.6 percent in November, even though the state also lost jobs during that time period.

Seasonally adjusted figures from the Department of Workforce Development show the unemployment rate dropped from 7.8 percent in October. However, the agency also reports the state lost 5,200 jobs in November. The data comes from two separate surveys conducted by the government each month.

Despite the loss of jobs, DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman says unemployment fell to its lowest point since January of 2009 and remains below the national average of 9.8 percent, which is an encouraging sign of the state’s continued economic recovery.
