The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin would like to see utility customers stay connected as the colder months come to an end. Utility service may be disconnected on or after this Thursaday, April 16, and Tim Lemonds with the Public Service Commission says they expect to hear from many people who've fallen behind.

"Typically, we see a spike as we approach the end of the moratorium anyway," Lemonds. "Because of the economic downturn, we're expecting more folks calling in." Lemonds says, over the course of a typical year, as many as 13,000 Wisconsin households may find the power disconnected for failure to pay.

Lemonds says utilities are generally willing to work out arrangements so that people can meet their financial obligations and stay connected. "If you can't come to an agreement with your utility, there are some services that the Public Service Commission can provide," says Lemonds.
