A growing number of UW-Madison students are bringing smart phones with them to school, according to a recent campus survey. The university is hoping to take advantage of the growing presence of the technology by launching its own smart phone application later this fall.

The UW app is expected to include features such a campus directory, maps, and local bus schedules. Hideko Mills with the UW’s Division of Information Technology says it could provide a great opportunity for students, parents, and others to stay connected with what’s going on around the campus.

The UW is also hoping to incorporate Badger sports with the application as well. Mills says that could include event schedules, results, and even real-time score information.
