Nothing like this has ever happened on HGTV. A Madison woman has admitted to stealing a student artwork from Union South on the University of Wisconsin campus, so she could show it to her interior designer.

Hildegard Neujahr, cited for misdemeanor theft for taking the painting valued at $700, was very cooperative with UW Police and told officers that she thought it was artwork painted by a student, and therefore acceptable to take, according to a department news release. Neujahr said she only took the painting to show her designer for color ideas.

The theft occurred about noon on November 20, and police released security camera footage of the suspect. Neujahr admitted Monday to taking the painting, which will be returned to Union South.
