The University of Wisconsin-Madison is named one of the best values among public universities by Kiplinger‘s Personal Finance — coming in at 13 in the 2012 rankings. Costs, academic measures, admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios and graduation rates were all factors in determining the rankings. Schools are also ranked on affordability, total expenses and financial aid when reviewing more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was deemed the nation’s top value. Two other UW System campuses – UW-La Crosse at No. 62 and UW-Eau Claire at No. 82 – were also ranked in the top 100 best values by the magazine. The rankings will be detailed in the magazine’s February issue.
