More than 1,600 UW-Madison students helped raise $41,279 in the Charity Stripe Challenge.  The idea was that of Wisconsin men’s basketball coach Bo Ryan and his wife, Kelly.  The efforts of the students would help decide just how much the check would be, from the Ryan’s to Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society.

In total, 36 UW students made half-court shots, which were worth a $1,000 donation.  Each free throw, and there were several made, was worth $10.

“I’m surprised and overwhelmed by the outpouring from our students,” Bo Ryan said.  “It was just unbelievable, and all I can say is thank you.
