UW-Whitewater isn’t letting a lack of electricity prevent its learning. The university suffered a power outage around seven this morning but classes are still going on, according to spokesperson Anita Clark.
WE Energies spokesman Barry McNulty says they have not determined a cause but suspect early morning thunderstorm activity is a factor. McNulty says they’ve detected a piece of burned equipment called a jumper.
The outage affected a nearby neighborhood in which 52 customers, including the university, lost power.
UPDATE: The university’s power was restored shortly after 10:30 AM.
