Wisconsin veterans are offering their support for presumptive Republican Presidential nominee John McCain, and criticism for his opponent's war plan.

A group of veterans spoke at the Capitol Friday about how John McCain has the right strategy for dealing with the war in Iraq. They also attacked Democrat Barack Obama for rolling out a plan before visiting forces there. Obama is currently in Iraq to meet with military leaders. Obama's plan would have troops leaving Iraq, with a renewed focus on terrorist in Afghanistan.

Army National Guard Sgt. Mike Hahn, with the 1158th Transportation Company from Beloit, says the U.S. can't afford to just give up in Iraq. He says such a move would make the people of Iraq vulnerable to terrorist forces and agressive neighbors, undoing much of the progress the U.S. has made there.

Obama campaign spokesman Phillip Walzak says what the Democrat learns during his visit to Iraq will become part of his strategy. He says Obama wants to focus on having Iraqis take responsibility for their future, while Senator McCain wants a prolonged U.S. presence that will cost taxpayers billions of dollars.
