A government leader in Racine County is accused of stalking an ex-girlfriend. Steve Jansen is President in the Village of Sturtevant, a community of about 7,000, just west of Racine. He’s been in jail since his arrest Sunday for allegedly not leaving his ex-girlfriend alone.
Mount Pleasant Police, the arresting agency, indicates the stalking scenario dates back to last fall. The 52-year-old Jansen, who’s been in office since 2003, will make a first court appearance this afternoon, ahead of tonight’s Village Board meeting, which holds obvious new interest.
