At the Capitol in Madison, the abortion debate is far from over. We can expect a bill from Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, who wants to keep the discussion going.

“I don’t believe in abortion. Other people want abortion up until birth. So there’s got to be some kind of a compromise in the middle.”

The Republican leader proposes a statewide ballot referendum to prohibit abortions past about 12 to 15 weeks. “The idea to have a referendum to take away rights that people have right now, that’s a non starter,” said Democratic Governor Tony Evers.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin resumed abortion services up to 20 weeks after a Dane County judge ruled an1849 state law did not prohibit consensual abortions. That ruling could eventually end up before the state Supreme Court.
