Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is calling Donald Trump’s continued dominance of the Republican field “one of the most remarkable things” he’s seen in modern politics.
During a stop in Madison Wednesday, the governor said he’s not sure whether Trump will be the GOP nominee, but noted the current direction of the campaign is looking good for the frontrunner. “Conventional wisdom is that someone who has won that many states is well on their way towards the nomination,” Walker said.
However, Walker also noted that “conventional wisdom has proven to be wrong on just about every issue” in the past year.

Walker bowed out of the race last September and, at the time, called on other candidates to consider joining him so a new frontrunner could lead the GOP ticket. Asked whether he would support Trump as the nominee, Walker noted that he made a pledge with other candidates last August. “I don’t know who the nominee is going to yet…but I don’t know that my position has changed in any way from then,” Walker said.
Wisconsin’s presidential preference primary is April 5. Walker said that, while he has not really talked to anybody yet about it, polling seems to suggest Trump will “do well” in the state.
