Governor Scott Walker has ordered a special election in the 69th Assembly District, to fill a seat left vacant after state Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) resigned his seat on Monday. Suder, the former Assembly Republican leader, left the Legislature to take a job as an administrator with the state Public Service Commission.
Candidates interested in running for the vacant seat will have until September 24th to file nomination papers. If needed, partisan primaries will be held on October 22 and a special election to fill the seat will be held on November 19.
State Rep. Mark Honadel (R-South Milwaukee) also recently announced plans to resign from the Legislature on September 16th. The governor says he plans to call a special election after Honadel’s resignation takes effect.
