Governor Scott Walker on Friday named UW-Platteville student Chad Landes as his pick to become the student member of the university system’s Board of Regents.

Landes is the second student Walker has nominated to the position this year, after he originally put forward the name of Platteville student Josh Inglett in mid-June. The governor then rescinded that appointment, after it was discovered Inglett had not disclosed that he signed a petition to recall Walker from office.

The governor has denied that Inglett’s name was withdrawn because of the petition signature, although a check of an online database of recall petition signatures did not turn up Landes’ name.

Landes majors in animal science at Platteville. He’s an agriculture ambassador for the school and travels to high schools throughout the Midwest to recruit ag students to Platteville. If the Senate confirms Landes’ nomination, he’ll replace Katie Pointer as one of two students on the 18-member policy-setting body for the UW System. Her two-year term expired in May.
