On a trip through the north woods Thursday, Governor Scott Walker rejected leaving Wisconsin for Washington in January to join President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet. Walker himself sought the White House in the summer of 2015, but he says there’s a new responsibility he’s taking on and his most useful place is at home, in Wisconsin.
“I think the bet thing I can do for this state, for this country, is continue to be governor,” said Walker, who takes the reigns of the National Governors Association next week. “I think I can help connect the governors with the Congress and the new president going forward.”
There was no love lost between Trump and Walker during the primaries in April, but the governor appeared to make amends with Trump as the election drew near.
