Governor Scott Walker has signed two more special session bills. Companies which relocate to Wisconsin would get a two year break on paying state income taxes. The governor compared that to rental property owners offering the first couple of months rent free. “That’s essentially what we’re doing here,” the governor said of the bill calculated to attract businesses from neighboring Illinois. “We’re saying, ‘give us a look, give us a chance.'”

Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller doesn’t think much of the bill – or Walker’s special session. “We need to have a very targeted program, that actually get’s jobs created,” said Miller. Walker also signed a bill which increases the state’s economic development fund by another 25 million dollars – although the fund currently has 75 million in unallocated tax credits. Democrats say both bills add to the state’s fiscal deficit. “The Democrat are in the boat of, shall we vote for an ineffective tex credit program, or should we try to be fiscally responsible,” said Miller.
