Governor Scott Walker plans to announce Friday morning what he will do about setting up a health insurance purchasing exchange that’s required under the Affordable Care Act.

The federal government is giving states until November 16th to declare whether they will set up their own menus of health plans for individuals and small businesses, or if they will take a federal template from Washington. States can also choose a mixture of the two.

If they choose their own exchanges, states have until December 14th to submit the details for consideration by the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Before President Obama’s reelection, Walker tried to distance himself as much as possible from the “Obamacare” law. He was hoping the US Supreme Court would strike it down. When the court did not, he said he was counting on a Mitt Romney presidency to repeal the package.
