Alfonso Soriano got the ball rolling for the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night by ripping the first pitch he saw for a home run, and the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff provided the Cubs with the rest of the ride. Free Ride that is!
Brewers' pitchers walked 10 Cubs batters and walked in 4 runs in the fourth inning, as the Cubs pulled out an 8-5 win. The Cubs, after dropping the series opener on Friday, took 2 of three from Milwaukee, dropping the Brewers to 2-4 on the season.
Opening day starter Jeff Suppan struggled again. In fact, his struggles go all the way back to last September. He was trying to get the Cubs to bite on sinkers and sliders and they weren't going for it. Brewers Manager Ken Macha said he expects more out of his #1 starter and Suppan needs to start to work six innings, instead of being removed in the fourth.
