UW-Whitewater Warhawk logoThe UW-Whitewater Warhawks remain perfect in the WIAC, holding off upset minded Platteville 65-64 in Platteville on Wednesday night.

A pair of Jake Manning free throws gave the Pioneers the lead with 27 seconds to play, but Whitewater’s Quardell Young hit a driving layup with 8 seconds to go to give the Warhawks (16-2, 9-0 WIAC) the victory.

Young finished with a game high 26 points for #1 ranked Whitewater.  Platteville (13-5, 6-3) got 19 points  from Jim Stocki in the loss.

The Warhawks remain a 1/2 game in front of UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC standings.  The Pointers beat UW-La Crosse 63-44.  Stevens Point improved to 15-4 overall and 9-1 in league play.
