A central Wisconsin man accused of killing a Minnesota man and cutting up his body is being held in Marathon County on a $1 million bond.

26-year-old Kou Thao was charged Monday with first degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

Police say the suspect fatally shot 58-year-old Tong Pao Hang of St. Paul, Minnesota last month in the basement of Thao’s home in Wausau. Investigators later found parts of Hang’s body at the home and at a residence in Milwaukee, along with a severed head in the trunk of a stolen car parked outside the Milwaukee home where Thao was arrested.

Police in Minneapolis and Wausau have been looking for Hang since he was reported missing April 8th. Investigators have not yet indicated any motive behind the murder.

Thao is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 1.
