Wausau’s School Board is continuing to deal with the aftermath of the recent district music controversy, which has drawn emotional responses from parents, students, staff and others. School Board members heard more from the public, and discussed some proposals brought up by board members to prevent similar issues in the future. There were nine new suggestions brought up by the board, but they did not take action on them to avoid any possible open meetings law issues.

Board member Pat McKee suggested contracting with Wausau Public Access television to record and distribute board meetings, and begin recording weekly meetings between Superintendent Kathleen Williams and Board President Michelle Schaeffer for distribution to the board and others. McKee also wants the board to direct Superintendent Williams to write a letter of apology to music director Phil Buch.

The board selected October 21st as the date they will start discussing Williams’ performance review.
