The religion teacher and soccer coach at Wausau’s Newman Catholic High School remains jailed on child pornography charges.
50-year-old Michael Switalski faces eight counts of possessing child pornography videos. Prosecutor Theresa Wetzsteon says they were tipped off after a Canadian company was shut down for selling pornographic videos of children, and found Switalski on the customer list. Wetzsteon says a search warrant was executed at Switalski’s home uncovered copies of the videos, including one in a DVD player.
The defendant lives alone and has no other family in the area. With his job also on suspension, Judge Jill Falstad set a $75,000 bond to ensure his future court appearances.
Switalski, who has been known for school and community involvement for many years, must stay away from schools and children if he does post bond.
