Forget what you've heard about business, labor, and money in politics. New analysis from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign seems to refute the assumption of an even playing field for the two groups: "business is giving campaign contributions at a pace that dwarfs what labor unions have been doing." The Democracy Campaign's Mike McCabe says that includes the teachers' union, WEAC, the biggest union contributor in the state. And Democrats are no longer the party of labor. McCabe says Democrats get five times the amount of campaign contributions from business groups than they receive from labor unions, reflecting the overall decline in union membership, and political clout.
