A Christmas tree from Marquette County will be headed to the White House next month. Tom Schroeder of Schroeder’s Forevergreens says a member of the White House staff was in town this week to pick out an 18-and-a-half foot balsam fir from the family’s tree farm.
The tree will be taken down next month and shipped to the White House. It will be on display during the holidays in the Blue Room of the presidential residence.
Schroeder’s Forevergreens won the chance to provide the official White House tree after taking top honors in the National Christmas Tree Association’s annual contest.
Schroeder says they plan travel to Washington D.C. to present the tree to First Lady Michelle Obama. They will then return again in December when the tree is decorated and on display at the White House.
