High tech investing in Wisconsin is bucking the national trend, that's what Governor Doyle says about the Wisconsin Angel Network , a four year old public/private partnership aimed at providing resources for innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2008 investments in WAN went up 28% while nationally general investment in early companies was down 25% says the Governor's office.

Doyle believes WAN and risk capital are important to the long term health of the state economy. He says most of the money goes to launch start up firms which normally pay off in 5 or 6 years time.

The Governor is in Atlanta for the BIO International Convention where he announced Madison will be hosting the MidAmerica Healthcare Venture Forum in November which draws investors looking at biotech research, healthcare services and medical equipment.
