Arrowhead defends title

Arrowhead captured its second consecutive Division 1 state title, knocking off Franklin 45-24 on Friday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

Arrowhead senior Jake Miller set the Division 1 record for most catches in a game with 11 and tied the mark for touchdown receptions with two in the win.  Teammate Ricky Finco finished with five receptions and a Division 1-record 113-yards.

The game was tied 17-17 in the third quarter when Arrowhead recovered a Franklin fumble and marched 76 yards on 11-plays to score a touchdown and went on to finish 13-1 with back to back state titles.  Franklin finished 12-2.

Kimberly caps perfect season

Quarterback Scott Schreiber signed a national letter of intent Monday to play college baseball at Nebraska, then went out and rushed for four

touchdowns and passed for a fifth to lead the Kimberly Papermakers to a 51-10 win over VFA conference foe Oshkosh North to win the Division 2 state title.

Schreiber had 12 carries for 100 yards as Kimberly won its third state title since 2007.  Schreiber hit 9 of 12 through the air for 154 yards.

Sophomore running back Blair Mullholland rushed for 89 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown in the victory at Kimberly finished a perfect
14-0.  Oshkosh North suffered their first loss to finish 13-1.

The game was delayed about a half hour when Spartan linebackers Rob Phillips and Alec Goodermuth collided while attempting to make a tackle on a punt return with 10:25 left to play.  Both players were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Monona Grove rebounds for D-3 title

For 2 1/2 quarters, it looked like Greendale was headed for the division 3 state title on Friday morning at Camp Randall.  But Monona Grove got rolling midway through the third quarter and came back to beat the Panthers 21-17 to capture the Gold Ball.

Monona Grove capped off a perfect season, finishing 14-0, while Greendale saw its season end with its only defeat (13-1).
