Fifth-seeded Eau Claire upset fourth-seeded Whitewater 69-59 in the opening round of the WIAC women’s basketball tournament on Tuesday night. Erin O’Toole had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Blugolds, who will play at top-seeded River Falls in Thursday night’s semi-finals.
In Stevens Point, the third-seeded Pointers knocked off sixth-seeded Stout 55-44. The Pointers had a 19-8 scoring edge in the fourth quarter and will play at second-seeded Oshkosh in Thursday’s other semi-final.
Men’s Tournament tips tonight
The men open play Wednesday night with third-seeded Eau Claire hosting sixth-seeded Stevens Point and fourth-seeded River Falls playing host to fifth-seeded Whitewater.
La Crosse is the top seed and Oshkosh is number-two. They’ll face the winners in Friday’s semifinals.
