Brent "Buzz" Williams has inked a six-year deal to become the new basketball coach at Marquette , replacing Tom Crean. Crean left to take the head job at Indiana, but Williams spent last season as an assistant to Crean. Prior to that, he was an assistant to Billy Gillispie at Texas A & M and then coach at New Orleans for one year.
Williams said he knows he's not the kind of high-profile hire who will generate a lot of buzz for Marquette basketball, at least not right away.
Williams said the attributes that made him an effective recruiter will also make him a successful head coach, that being a tireless worker and an emphasis on personal relationships.
