dlh316A rainy, spring like day is on tap for most of Wisconsin on Wednesday, but the northwestern corner of the state is in path of a blast of wintry misery. The National Weather Service in Duluth is forecasting that a powerful storm will strengthen as it moves into Wisconsin. Very heavy snowfall rates and heavy wet snow will result in rapidly worsening travel and road conditions on Wednesday morning, with low visibility and very slick roads area-wide.

The morning commute will likely be severely affected in the Twin Ports and surrounding areas in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Snow will be heavy at times through the day on Wednesday. It’s expected to taper off Wednesday night, but is likely to linger in the Duluth-Superior area and along Wisconsin’s south shore of Lake Superior into Thursday morning. People with travel plans Wednesday and Thursday should be prepared for extremely hazardous travel conditions, according to the NWS.
