Hong delivers unity speech — Milwaukee human error delays results in Dem primary (MILWAUKEE)
Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong stopped short of conceding at her election watch party in Madison Tuesday night – instead delivering a Democratic unity message against Republican Tom Tiffany. Hong told supporters awaiting the outcome of an extraordinarily close primary to “collectively reject despair” and unite to oppose the Republican nominee in November. When Hong spoke shortly after 11:00, she narrowly trailed Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, 40% to 39.5%. As of midnight, final results from the city of Milwaukee’s 20,000 absentee ballots were not in. According to election officials, five memory sticks out of nine mistakenly had the audit results downloaded to them not the actual results, so city election workers returned to the tabulators to redo the download.
