It’s been a “decent year” for apples in Wisconsin, at least compared to a pretty dismal 2010. That’s according to Wisconsin Apple Growers Association president Tom Ferguson, who says the state is on track to produce more than 43 million pounds of apples this year.

The expected harvest is up about 17-percent over last year. Ferguson says yields were down last year because of a very long spring and a late frost that hit when many trees were already blooming. While it’s not a record year, Ferguson says anything is an improvement over last year.
