Now's the time people start looking for that perfect Christmas Tree and chances are you'll be getting a Wisconsin grown product.

Two million Christmas trees are harvested in Wisconsin each year. The state is one of the nation's biggest tree producers. Most of them will end up on retail lots out of state but more than 300-thousand will end up in a Wisconsin home.

Cheryl Nicholson with the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producer's Association in Portage says Christmas trees are a 50-million dollar business for the state.

This summer's drought was felt by tree farmers but didn't severely hurt the crop. Nicholson says prices will be about the same as last year. They don't fluctuate that much.

This year, Wisconsin Christmas Tree growers are donating 600 trees to military bases overseas and here in the US. It's part of a nationwide Trees for Troops effort to share a little holiday spirit with the men and women in the military.
