Wisconsin communities are recovering from summer storms Thursday into last night. Most regions of the state saw downed trees. The Northwest was hit hard with rain and is dealing with washed out roads. In Superior, Douglas County Highway Commissioner Paul Halverson said some county-and-town roads might be closed for the entire Memorial Day Weekend.

Tod Pritchard of Wisconsin Emergency Management says last night’s conditions led to a lone twister in Central Wisconsin but it could’ve been much worse. “The moisture and instability that we were thinking might happen in the atmosphere didn’t so it was harder for tornadoes to form yesterday,” he says.

Pritchard says the twister seemed to have touched down for five miles in a rural area. No structural damage has been reported.
