The first beer since prohibition made with all Wisconsin ingredients has hit store shelves again. Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery released Local Acre Wet Hop today, a slight variation of the original recipe using farm fresh uncured hops.

“Now that we’ve got the gears turning, the Wisconsin hop growers are really getting in our favor,” says brewery employee Colin Ford.

Lakefront Brewery is among brewers involved with the recent resurgence in using hops grown in the badger state. Hops were once a staple of Wisconsin agriculture until mildew and insects from overcrowded plantations in the 19th century forced growers to move out of state.

Regular Local Acre will be available again between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, according to brewery spokesperson Matt Krajnak.
