Wisconsin gets poor grades in a report released today by the American Lung Association. The American Lung Association gives Wisconsin grades of "F" for smoke-free air and for spending on tobacco prevention and control. The state received "D" grades for cigarette taxes, and youth access to tobacco products.

While cities like Madison and Appleton have comprehensive smoking bans the state gets an "F" for smoke-free air, "simply because the state doesn't have a comprehensive smoke free workplace law," says Dona Wininsky with the state chapter of the Lung Association. As for the "D" grade on cigarettes taxes, Wininsky notes that states all around the nation have been steadily increasing that tax, with the national average now around $1.70 a pack.
