Several Wisconsin counties took part in a national effort to round up domestic violence offenders

This was Dane County's first year to get involved in national Family Violence Apprehension Detail. Dane County Sheriff's spokesperson Elise Schaffer says domestic violence issues are always a concern for the department and this was a way to do something about it.

Deputies they were able to serve twenty-two outstanding warrants arresting nine wanted suspects on such charges as first degree reckless endangerment, aggravated battery and causing great bodily harm.

Not as many arrests as deputies had hoped but Schaeffer says these people try very hard not to get caught and it's often difficult to come up with a good address or work location.

But Schaeffer says just because wanted suspects may have escaped the one day round-up, their crimes will catch up with them and eventually get caught.
