The Wisconsin Badgers led by as many as 12 points in the second half, then Michigan State turned the tide and the 6th ranked Spartans came from behind to beat the Badgers 61-50 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.  The Badgers (8-7, 17-10 Big Ten) were officially eliminated from the Big Ten regular season title chase.

The Spartans (11-3, 21-5) maintained a 1-game lead over Purdue in the Big Ten standings and they won with most of the 1979 NCAA Championship team in attendance, including Magic Johnson.

The Badgers missed 10 of their last 12 shots and shot 31.3% from the field, which tied a season low.

The Badgers are now off until next Sunday, when they host Michigan at the Kohl Center.
