After Wisconsin’s Luke Kunin (15th overall pick by Minnesota) and Trent Frederic (29th overall by Boston) were selected in the opening round of the NHL Draft on Friday night, three more Badgers were selected on Saturday.
Defenseman JD Greenway went to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round with the 72nd pick overall, Max Zimmer was picked by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round with the 104th overall pick and Philip Nyberg went to the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round with the 129th overall selection.
Wisconsin’s 2016 draft class extends the Badgers’ streak to 19 consecutive years in which one of their incoming or current players were drafted. The five-member class is also the largest since the 2011 draft also saw five Badgers selected.
