He let the cat out of the bag last week, but now Willie Nelson makes it official. He and Farm Aid co-founder John Mellencamp will bring the show to Milwaukee, along with Dave Matthews and Neil Young. The concert event was created to call attention to the plight of family farmers.

Nelson spoke via a webcast. “Farm Aid will be in Milwaukee … October the second.”

Speaking live via streaming audio from Miller Park in Milwaukee, Farm Aid Director, Carolyn Mugar, says the Badger State was chosen because of its strong agricultural tradition. “Right now I’m standing in Miller Park, which is home to the Milwaukee Brewers. And it’s gonna be a home run for Farm Aid.”

Indiana native John Mellencamp gives Nelson credit for keeping this event going for 25 years. “I’m very proud of Willie and proud to have the concert back in Milwaukee.” Mellencamp says Nelson deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for keeping such an event going for 25 years.

This is the first time Farm Aid will be held in Wisconsin. Tickets go on sale August 14th for the October second show. The Brewers will be in Cincinnati.

NOTE: Tickets range from $39.50 to $97.50.
