Wisconsin’s unemployment rate in January dipped to a 16-year low.

The state Department of Workforce Development reports the unemployment rate during January hit 3.9 percent – down from 4.1 percent in December. It’s the lowest level for the state since January 2001.

Wisconsin’s unemployment rate one year ago was 4.3 percent.

State officials say more people were employed in the first month of the year than ever before in Wisconsin.
